For district review

Historia is a free research tool for students. It searches public archives and returns real catalogue records with citations.

No account is needed to search, and searching has no field for a name, an email address or a student ID. Each search carries the question, a random identifier made by the browser, and the IP address. Sign-in, by emailed link, is optional and stores an email address.

Because Historia receives no education records, it holds no FERPA-protected data. No vendor holds a government FERPA certification and we do not claim one.

It refuses to write a student's paper, enforced on the server before any model runs. It carries no advertising and no tracking pixels in its own code.

Historia is a nonprofit programme fiscally sponsored by The Hack Foundation, a 501(c)(3), which would be the signer of a data privacy agreement; we are confirming that with the foundation. Contact: thehistoria.company@gmail.com
